![]() On Every F'n FF, cohosts Karl Germanovich and Curtis Ware and producer Alex Noble explore three decades of Final Fantasy history one game at a time. Unlike many "real" book clubs and video game podcasts, they're less interested in new releases-focusing instead on detailed analysis of popular retro titles. Delivered as multi-episode podcast seasons, these "video game book clubs" earn the moniker thanks to weekly deep-dive episodes into narrative-heavy video games, and ongoing, guided discussions among their robust listener communities. ![]()

While I was there, he had a new series starting up called The Villains' Code with the first book, Forging Hephaestus, available in hardcover (Ashley bought the last soft cover copy). He's a nice guy and freely chatted about his work, the process, and gave me some tips for getting my own books onto Audible (working on that). It was an interesting read, and getting to meet Drew in person was very cool. It's a fun tale about an average guy becoming a vampire and basically staying an average guy… until he gets caught up with a girl from high school that fights monsters. My first experience with his work was a novel Ashley had bought for me called The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant. ![]() ![]() ![]() The golden, drug-infused meanderings of the band work brilliantly with the slowly revealing fairy tale at the centre of the narrative. The story is mysterious and atmospheric with Hand’s descriptions giving the whole thing a magical, uncanny feeling. The story is cleverly crafted in documentary style with multiple unreliable narrators, giving differing viewpoints and justification of events. The album they make becomes a classic but it is bathed in tragedy as the band’s mercurial singer disappears during the sessions.
